The date has been set!!! Please mark your calendar's for this year's Rotary Shrimp Boil that will be held on Saturday, April 1st at the KC Hall. It begins at 5:00 p.m. with food served until 7:30 p.m. and then the festivities will begin at 7:45 p.m. More details will be added as we get closer to the event date.
The Expressions Art Sale and Reception is a major fund raiser for the Sinnissippi Foundation and will take place starting April 4, 2017, when art and silent auction items go on display. The event concludes with an evening reception on Friday April 21, 2017, from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.
Expressions features the art work of local and regional artists and a wide variety of silent auction items donated by local, regional, and other businesses and organizations.
Art and auction items can be viewed during gallery hours between April 4th and through the reception on April 21st.
Join the YWCA for the 35th annual YWCA Women of Achievement Luncheon. In addition to the awards and luncheon, there's a 50/50 raffle, gift basket drawings and new this year, a Dessert Dash, where you can support the YWCA while dashing to nab a delicious dessert for your table. Please join Dixon Main Street and the Lee County Historical and Genealogical Society in celebrating Dixon's rich history! Dinner will be available for purchase beginning at 6 pm Awards and program will begin at 6:45 pm This year's presentation will be "Dixon's Darkest Day". On Sunday, May 4, 1873, a large crowd gathered on Dixon’s new bridge to watch Baptist Pastor J.H. Pratt perform several baptisms in the Rock River below. But the bridge suddenly buckled and collapsed, hurling scores of men, women, and children into the river. On that tragic day, 44 people died, the worst calamity ever to strike Dixon.Tom Wadsworth of Dixon, a professional speaker whose great-great-great grandmother drowned on that day, will give a 45-minute pictorial presentation of the disaster, how it happened, and the many lives that were lost on Dixon’s Darkest Day.

Sauk Valley Community College Hosts Careers/Jobs Fair for Public April 20
Sauk Valley Community College will hold their annual Careers/Job Fair Thursday, April 20, 11am-3 p.m.
This free event is an opportunity for the public to learn about Sauk's career programs and degrees, and network with many local businesses.
You will have the opportunity to learn about the educational paths available to build the skills necessary in your field or fields of interest.
Everyone is encouraged to bring resumes as some businesses attending the Fair may be collecting applications and filling positions. Professional attire is suggested.
