Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior

Behavior is a powerful form of communication and is one of the primary ways for people with dementia to communicate their needs and feelings as the ability to use language is lost. However, some behaviors can present real challenges for caregivers to manage. Join us to learn to decode behavioral messages, identify common behavior triggers, and learn strategies to help intervene with some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease. Employers Conference

NCI Works Annual Employer Conference and Awards Recognition

NCI Works will be sponsoring their 14th Annual Employer Conference at the Mendota Civic Center Oct. 27, 2017 beginning at 8:30am with breakfast and registration followed by a morning motivational speaker, Laurie Guest. Ms. Guest will speak about what happens when a “guest” (customer, client, patron, or patient) encounters your organization? What happens when the internal customer has an encounter with your department? Many business owners and managers feel they already have service under control. They believe additional training is not an issue.  However, every encounter makes an impression. Ms. Guest will be followed by lunch and NCI Works’ Annual Awards, recognizing those committed to the development of a quality workforce and those that have succeeded at reaching their goals.

The afternoon will feature an Employment Law Update with Attorneys Sarah Gasperini and Melanie Steward from Jackson Lewis. Co-sponsors of this event include: St. Margaret’s Health, Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Valley Area Chamber of Commerce, Dixon Area Chamber of Commerce, Streator Area Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Department of Employment Security, Illinois Valley SHRM, Rock River Human Resources Professional Association, and LaSalle County Broadcasting.
