Florissa, the children’s division of Kreider Services, has announced the date of a new event for the Sauk Valley area. April 29, 2017 at Sauk Valley Community College is the location of the inaugural Florissa Family 5K and Fun Run. The Fun Run for kids will start at 8 am followed by the start of the 5K Run at 8:30 am. All proceeds from the 5K will help sustain the programs and services at Florissa. Florissa serves the needs of children from birth - 18 years old with emotional, social, developmental or behavioral needs. Currently, children and families from 14 counties are coming for services. Florissa works in partnership with KSB Hospital and Sinnissippi Centers.
Registration for the event is $20 for early bird registration (ends 2/28/17), $25 for registration before the event after Feb. 28 and $30 on day of registration. The kids participating in the Fun Run will be FREE.
Our goal with this event is to not only raise valuable dollars to support Florissa but to continue with our mission in educating the community about this 2 year old program and to bring awareness to some of the issues children have and the local resources that are available. Additionally, there will be a Marketplace that will consist of an Expo area where area service providers can provide information about their services for people with disabilities of all types. The course will be accessible for wheelchairs and people with disabilities. Therapy dogs will be allowed on the course as well. The day will be fun with many kids activities being planned.
People can register at GetMeRegistered.com or can print off a race registration form from the Kreider Services and Florissa websites: www.kreiderservices.org or www.florissacenter.org.
Forms are also available at Kreider Services main office at 500 Anchor Road or at 101 E. First Street in Dixon.
