IL Manufacturers' Association Workshop (10:00 am - 11:00 am)

Area Organizations Team Up to Host IL Manufacturing Association

 

The Dixon Chamber of Commerce, Morrison Area Development Corporation and Sauk Valley Area Chamber of Commerce are joining again to co-host another great event for local businesses.

 

Tuesday, May 2 the President and CEO of the Illinois Manufacturers’ Association, Greg Baise, will be in Sterling for a manufacturing update. This special presentation will focus on the association’s current middle-class manufacturing agenda to improve the state’s manufacturing climate and revitalize the middle class. Mr. Baise is currently traveling the state sharing this message and meeting with local manufacturers.

 

According to Vicki Carlson, Dixon Chamber of Commerce, “We work with our local manufacturers frequently, but this event is a unique opportunity for them to meet with Mr. Baise and gain stronger insight into their initiatives and how they are trying to address manufacturing needs in the current business environment.”

 

The May 2 presentation will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Whiteside Area Career Center in Sterling. There is no cost to attend. Please RSVP by calling 815-625-2400 or email .

Cinco de Mayo Celebration (11:00 am - 8:00 pm)

Cinco de Mayo Celebration in downtown Dixon Dixon Main Street is gearing up for an exciting event season downtown. On Saturday, May 6, we will introduce a new event, Cinco de Mayo. A downtown favorite, Salamandra Restaurant, is celebrating their 15th anniversary this year and has partnered with Dixon Main Street to present this family friendly event. We encourage you to visit the 100 block of West First Street from 11am-8pm to help celebrate this milestone. There will be plenty of kids activities, food and drink for purchase by Salamandra, live entertainment, mariachi bands, Spanish dancers, DJ, and vendors. Free admission. 2017 Lee County Sheriff's Department Torch's 5K (9:00 am - 10:04 am)

The Lee County Sheriff's Department and its Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 220 welcomes you to come out and run or walk 3.1 miles and raise money for Special Olympics! All proceeds from the event go to the Special Olympics of Illinois-Region 1. Race will start promptly at 9:00. Registration will open at 7:30 AM. Award Winners: Top 3 in 5 Year Age groups and top overall male and female winner.

The Dixon Chamber's May Business After Business (BAB) will be held on Thursday, May 18, from 5:00 - 6:30 pm at Timber Creek Golf & Banquet, 729 Timber Creek Road, Dixon.  The BAB is hosted by Timber Creek Golf & Banquet and All-Safe Storage Center. This networking event is free for Dixon Chamber members and their guests. Bring your business cards!

Dixon Make A Wish 5k (8:00 am - 9:00 am)

Join a little race for a BIG cause! Come race with us and raise funds for Make-a-Wish families and kids! We're making a difference, one race at a time....

The race begins and ends at Washington Elementary School, 703 East Morgan Street, Dixon, IL

The race features a fast flat course on Lowell Park Trail with water station.

Awards ceremony immediately following race.

Awards presented to the overall male and female finishers. Awards also presented to the top three male and female finishers in the following age categories:

40-44

50-54

70 & Over

Race will be held rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, thank you for your donation.
