Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail (6:30 am - 4:00 pm)

Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail to hit the waters of Rock River in Dixon on June 3rd

The Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail will return to the Rock River at Dixon, June 3, 2017.  This is the opportunity for catfish anglers to compete for cash, prizes and a chance to advance to the Cabela’s King Kat North and South Championships. This year's Northern Championship will be held September 22 & 23, 2017 on the Cumberland River (Old Hickory Lake) at Gallatin, Tennessee. The Southern Championship will be held October 6 & October 7, 2017 on Lake Wateree at Camden, South Carolina. Both sites contain new and exciting information on our events along with special information for catfish anglers everywhere.

Registration

Late registration will be held Friday, June 2 the day before competition at Ace Hardware & Outdoor Center, 900 N. Galena Avenue, Dixon, IL from 5-7 PM. Captains Meeting/Seminar will follow at 7pm. Anglers must be a member of the King Kat Association to fish this event.  A one year membership is $30.00. To pre-register go on line to: www.kingkatusa.com or call (502) 384-5924.

Legal waters for the event will be: Anglers may fish from Steel Mill Dam at Milan to the Hwy 72 Bridge at Byron on the Rock River.

Weigh-In Site

The tournament weigh-in will be held at Page Park, Dixon, IL. Tournament hours are 6:30 AM until 3:00 PM. All anglers must be in the weigh-in line by 4:00 PM with a 5-fish limit per team. To help preserve the sport only live fish will be weighed in and all fish will be released after the tournament. Free Kids Fishing Rodeo

In conjunction with the tournament the Cabela’s King Kat Tournament Trail will hold the Cabela’s King Kat Kids event on Saturday, June 3 at Page Park, Dixon, IL. The event is free of charge and open to all youth 12 and younger. Sign up is from 8:00 AM till                    9:00 AM with the Kid's Fishing Event starting at 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. All children will receive a prize just for entering. Bring your favorite rod, reel and bait and show your true fishing ability. All children must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Prizes for winners will be given in two age groups, 0-7 and 8-12. The event is free to all children 12 and under with all participants eligible for a chance to win one of the six, Outdoor Promotions $1,000.00 scholarships to be awarded in October.


Outdoor Promotions and our anglers have contributed nearly $342,000.00 to the “Kids” Scholarships since 1997. We are very proud to be a part of the education process for the youngsters who participate in our tournaments as adult/youth teams and those who fish in the Outdoor Promotions “Kids Fishing Rodeos”.

“GET OUT AND PLAY”

The City of Dixon, working with the Dixon Park District will offer many family and kids activities from Noon – 4 PM in Page Park following the kids fishing rodeo. If you wish to promote your outdoor business, summer camps or events by having a booth, please contact Stephanie at City Hall by phone at (815)288-1485 or by email at stephanie.terranova@discoverdixon.org.   A complete list of all the activities will be posted several weeks before the event.  Mayor Li Arellano and Rich Kelly from Ace Hardware want to expand this event to not only anglers.  “Dixon has a lot of outdoor activities in the summer and we want to promote these opportunities. We want people in and out of the area to get outside and play. We hope that people will come to Page Park and stay until the anglers come off the Rock River for the Weigh-In.”

World War II re-enactment (10:00 am)

Each June WWII is recreated in Dixon, IL at Elks Page Park to commemorate the Second World War.  This spectator event gives a glimpse of life on the front lines in France, 1944 through Living History by members of the World War Two Historical Reenactment Society.  You will be able to see firsthand the typical life of "Willie and Joe", the American dogface soldier, along with battle hardened German troops, and experience the sights and sounds of a WWII battle.  Original American armored vehicles and rare examples of German equipment will be on display and operational during the weekend. 

Elks Page Park will be transformed into a war zone June 24-25 during the re-enactment.  June 24 hours are 9:30 am to 5:00 pm with battles at 11 am and 3 pm.  June 25 hours are 10:30 am to 3:30 pm with a battle at 2 pm.  Elks Page Park is at 7883 S. Lowell Park Road, Dixon.  Admission is $5 per person or $10 per carload. WWII veterans get in free.  Go to http://wwii-recreated-dixon.weebly.com/ for more information.
